MIR LOSES CATALAN GP PODIUM AFTER TYRE PRESSURE PENALTY

Joan Mir has lost his second-place finish at the Catalan Grand Prix after receiving a 16-second penalty for irregular tyre pressure.

The penalty dropped Mir from P2 to P16, taking away what would have been a strong podium result for the Honda rider.

Raul Fernández was also punished for the same reason. He originally finished P16, but the penalty moved him down to P17.

The decision changed the final race result after the chequered flag and became one of the main talking points from the Catalan Grand Prix.

For Mir, it was a painful outcome after a strong race. He had crossed the line in podium position, but the tyre pressure infringement meant he left without the result he had earned on track.
