ACOSTA HIT WITH PENALTY AS BASTIANINI INHERITS SPRINT PODIUM

Pedro Acosta has been given an 8-second time penalty after the Sprint race at the Grand Prix of the Americas due to an irregularity with his tire pressure.

The penalty had a big impact on the final result. Acosta, who had finished in third place on track, was dropped down to ninth after the time was added to his race result.

This change promoted Enea Bastianini to third place, giving him a surprise podium. It is his first top-three finish in a Sprint race since the Czech Republic Grand Prix in July 2025.

The decision came after checks by officials, who found that Acosta’s tire pressure did not meet the required limits during the race.

In the end, what looked like a strong result for Acosta turned into a disappointment, while Bastianini benefited from the penalty and celebrated an unexpected return to the podium.
