ANTONELLI STORMS BACK TO WIN IN JAPAN AND SECURES SECOND VICTORY IN A ROW

Kimi Antonelli delivered another outstanding performance in Japan, taking his second win in a row and confirming his rapid rise in Formula 1. The Italian driver did not have an easy race, as a poor start dropped him from pole position down to sixth place.

However, he stayed calm, worked his way back through the field, and took advantage of a perfectly timed pit stop during the Safety Car to move into the lead and control the race until the finish.

Behind him, Oscar Piastri secured an impressive second place. After a difficult beginning to the season in which he had not even completed a race distance, the Australian finally showed his true pace. He fought hard at the front earlier in the race, especially against George Russell, and then managed his race well over the full distance to keep his position on the podium.

The battle for third place was one of the highlights of the race. George Russell and the two Ferrari drivers were involved in a close fight, constantly exchanging positions. In the end, Charles Leclerc came out ahead. He capitalized on a moment where Russell lost performance due to low energy and later made a decisive move on his teammate at Turn 1. From there, he defended strongly, holding off Russell until the checkered flag.

Lando Norris also had a solid race, showing good speed and consistency. His efforts paid off near the end when he managed to pass Lewis Hamilton to take fifth place. Pierre Gasly impressed as well, maintaining seventh position throughout the race and successfully keeping Max Verstappen behind him, despite the Dutch driver pushing hard.

The race also included a dramatic moment when Oliver Bearman crashed heavily while trying to avoid another car. The impact was significant, but fortunately he escaped with only a knee contusion. The incident had an impact of 50G and it brought out the Safety Car, which played a key role in shaping the final result.

At the start, Antonelli had lined up on pole after beating his teammate Russell in qualifying. However, both Mercedes drivers struggled off the line, allowing Piastri and Charles Leclerc to move ahead immediately. As the race settled, several battles formed across the field.

Pit stops started relatively early, with some teams trying aggressive strategies to gain track position. Mercedes chose to stay out longer, hoping to gain an advantage, but the Safety Car later changed everything. Drivers who pitted at the right moment, including Antonelli, gained a clear benefit.

After the restart, Antonelli quickly pulled away from the rest of the field. While he extended his lead, the fight behind him remained intense, especially between Russell and the Ferrari drivers. Leclerc produced one of the best moves of the race with a bold overtake around the outside, showing great confidence and control.

In the closing laps, Antonelli had everything under control and crossed the line to secure another victory. Piastri held onto second place, while Leclerc completed the podium after a hard-fought race. Russell had to settle for fourth, followed by Norris and Hamilton. Gasly’s strong defense ensured he stayed ahead of Verstappen, with Lawson and Ocon rounding out the top ten.
