BREAKING NEWS: HONDA TO SIGN FABIO QUARTARARO

The French rider who made his debut with Petronas SRT in 2019, will leave Yamaha after 8 seasons with the Japanese factory. He will join Honda on an initial 2 year deal when his current contract expires at the end of 2026 as per Motorsport.com.

“El Diablo” will leave Yamaha after a fruitful partnership in which he secured one MotoGP title and eleven race victories. Quartararo’s departure shows the current state of Yamaha and how even someone as loyal as the Frenchman sees it time to cut ties and move on.

For Honda this marks a step in the right direction with a former champion joining and a bike moving forward in the pecking order. 2026 will be a big year for current factory riders Luca Marini and Joan Mir, who will now be competing for one ride. With Honda reportedly assessing several options before deciding who will take the second seat.

This move should kick off the rider market with Yamaha seeking a top quality replacement for their star rider.
