CAMARA CONCLUDES THE F2 PRE-SEASON TEST FASTEST
The final day of Formula 2 testing featured a particularly eventful morning before a calmer afternoon, mostly dedicated to race simulations.
From the early stages of the session, the Campos cars of Noel León and Nikola Tsolov were the quickest, confirming the strong form of the Spanish outfit. However, the session was soon disrupted by several interruptions.
Varrone first triggered a red flag, quickly followed by Villagómez, whose stoppage also neutralized the session. With one hour remaining in the morning, Noel León added his name to the list of drivers causing a red flag.
Rafael Camara then made a strong statement late in the morning by taking the top spot, ending the session ahead of the two Campos cars and establishing himself as an early favorite for the 2026 season.
An afternoon focused on race simulations
The afternoon was much quieter, with teams mainly focusing on long runs to best prepare for the opening race weekend of the season in Melbourne.
There was only one interruption during the final session of the week, caused by Van Hoepen late in the day.
Cian Shields set the fastest time in 1:26.269, ahead of León and Fittipaldi. Camara, who led the morning, ultimately finished P9. They were lapping around 3 seconds slower than qualy in the race simulation.
What pecking order before Melbourne?
The two Invicta drivers, Rafael Camara and Joshua Durksen, were among the quickest over the course of the week. Much like in Formula 3 with Freddie Slater, Rafael Camara is already being seen as the favorite for the drivers’ title at the end of the 2026 season.
Campos and Rodin could challenge Invicta for the teams’ title, with French outfit ART GP also one to watch.
