DUNNE AND CÂMARA HIT WITH CANADA GRID PENALTIES
Alexander Dunne and Rafael Câmara have both received three-place grid penalties for the Formula 2 races in Canada after separate impeding incidents during qualifying.
Dunne was penalized for impeding Rafael Villagómez during the session. The Rodin Motorsport driver drops from P3 to P6 for the Feature Race start, and from P8 to P11 on the Sprint Race grid. The stewards made the decision after reviewing video evidence and speaking with the drivers and team representatives.
Câmara was also given a three-place grid penalty after impeding Dunne in qualifying. The Invicta Racing driver drops from P2 to P5 for the Feature Race and from P9 to P12 for the Sprint Race.
Both penalties apply to the Sprint and Feature Race under Article 31.6 of the Formula 2 Sporting Regulations. It means two of the fastest drivers from qualifying will now start further down the order, changing the shape of both races in Montreal.
For Dunne and Câmara, it is a costly setback after strong qualifying performances and both being in contention for the title.
