FIA F2 2026 – DINO BEGANOVIC TAKES STUNNING POLE AT MELBOURNE

The first qualifying session of the 2026 Formula 2 season in Melbourne was marked by several interruptions and an impressive performance from Dino Beganovic.

In the first flying laps, Nikola Tsolov set the provisional fastest time of the session, ahead of Martinius Stenshorne and title favourite Rafael Camara.

The session was then interrupted for the first time after Mari Boya crashed at Turn 12, bringing out the red flag.

Shortly after the restart, a second red flag was triggered by Gabriele Minì, who was forced to stop on track due to another engine problem. It has been a nightmare weekend for the Italian driver, who will start from the back of the grid in both races this weekend.

The session eventually resumed for just three minutes, giving all drivers one final attempt. In those final moments, Dino Beganovic delivered an outstanding lap to secure pole position.

The driver finished ahead of the two Rodin cars of Martinius Stenshorne and Alex Dunne, who also set excellent laps at the end of the session.

For Invicta, qualifying proved more difficult, with only P6 and P9 at the end of the session.

Thanks to his tenth-place finish, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak will start from pole position on the reverse grid for the sprint race, giving him a strong opportunity to fight for victory on Saturday.
