FIA INCREASES LIMIT FOR ENERGY RECHARGE PER LAP FOR CHINA

The FIA has increased the battery recharge limit for the Chinese Grand Prix, allowing teams to recover 9MJ of electrical energy per lap, compared to the 7MJ limit used at the Australian Grand Prix.

In practical terms, this means Formula 1 cars will have more electrical energy available to deploy during attack moments, such as overtaking attempts or defending against rivals.

The change comes as a response to the specific characteristics of the Shanghai International Circuit. The track features numerous braking zones, many of which involve heavy braking, creating more opportunities for energy recovery through the hybrid system.

By allowing teams to recover additional energy, the FIA is adapting the regulations to better match the circuit’s layout and ensure the hybrid systems can be used more effectively throughout the race weekend.
