FORMULA E ARRIVES IN JEDDAH FOR THE FIRST DOUBLE-HEADER OF THE SEASON

Rounds 4 and 5 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship take place this week (Feb 12–14), marking the first of six double-headers scheduled this season.

Miami Rewards Consistency

Miami delivered one of the most chaotic Formula E races in recent memory. Unpredictable weather set the tone, with the race beginning under Safety Car conditions for the first five laps. Once the action got underway, fans were treated to an intense battle between Felipe Drugovich and Nico Müller, with the Brazilian and the Swiss drivers repeatedly swapping positions for the lead.

However, Drugovich’s charge ended dramatically after a mistake that resulted in contact with António Félix da Costa. The incident eliminated the Portuguese driver from the race, adding another DNF to his Season 12 campaign.

On the other side of the TCS Jaguar garage, Mitch Evans executed a composed and strategic drive. Starting from P9, the New Zealander steadily worked his way through the field. By the start of Lap 28, he had closed in on Müller and made the decisive move for the lead, securing a record-breaking 15th Formula E victory.

Five Drivers, Six Points: A Tight Championship Fight

Formula E has built a reputation for closely contested title battles, and this season is shaping up to be no different. Nick Cassidy leads the standings with 40 points, just two ahead of Pascal Wehrlein in P2 and three clear of Jake Dennis in P3. Oliver Rowland and Nico Müller complete the top five, sitting six and seven points behind the championship leader, respectively.

In contrast, their teammates have struggled to make a significant impact. Jean-Éric Vergne has scored only four points across three rounds, while Norman Nato has managed just one point so far, thanks to a P10 finish at the Mexico City E-Prix.

Jeddah Brings Back Pit Boost

Jeddah will also see the return of Pit Boost, adding an extra layer of strategy to the weekend. The feature is used in one race during double-header events and allows drivers to increase their car’s energy by 10% through a mandatory 30-second pit stop.

Each driver must take the Pit Boost once during the designated State of Charge window, which is defined by Race Control ahead of the weekend. With energy management already a crucial element of Formula E, this regulation could play a decisive role in determining the outcome.

Cassidy Becomes the Target

Nick Cassidy began the season in dominant performance, but his position at the top is now under threat. After finishing P16 in Miami, his championship lead shrank to just two points over Wehrlein, who secured a strong P3 result in the last race.

The key question heading into Jeddah is whether Wehrlein can capitalize on his momentum and seize the championship lead, or if Cassidy will respond and reinforce his position at the summit.

With a tight points table, strategic variables, and two races on the horizon, Jeddah promises another dramatic chapter in an already gripping season.
