ISACK HADJAR STAYS AT RED BULL ALONGSIDE MAX VERSTAPPEN FOR 2027
Isack Hadjar will remain at Red Bull Racing for the 2027 Formula 1 season after signing a contract extension with the team. The French driver will continue alongside Max Verstappen, meaning Red Bull will keep the same driver line-up for a second consecutive season.
Hadjar joined Red Bull’s senior team at the start of the 2026 season after spending his rookie Formula 1 campaign with Racing Bulls in 2025. His first season with the main team has included several strong results, with the Frenchman currently sitting eighth in the Drivers’ Championship despite missing the last three Grands Prix because of a wrist injury.
The 21-year-old had been particularly consistent before his injury. According to Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies, Hadjar finished inside the top six in each of his last seven races before missing the Dutch, Italian and Spanish Grands Prix. His best result of the season so far came with a fourth-place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Hadjar’s promotion to Red Bull came after a strong 2025 season with Racing Bulls. He scored his first Formula 1 podium at the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and established himself as one of the team’s leading young drivers after progressing through the Red Bull Junior Team.
His path to Red Bull started in the junior series. Hadjar joined the Red Bull Junior Team in 2022 and progressed through Formula 3 and Formula 2 before reaching Formula 1. He finished runner-up in the 2024 Formula 2 championship after a close title fight with Gabriel Bortoleto.
The contract extension also comes just as Hadjar returns to the cockpit. He has been declared fit for this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix after recovering from the wrist injury that kept him out of Zandvoort, Monza and Madring. He last raced at the Hungarian Grand Prix in July.
Hadjar’s return also means Liam Lawson will move back to Racing Bulls after replacing him at Red Bull for the previous three races. Lawson scored points during his temporary promotion, but Red Bull has now confirmed that Hadjar will resume his place alongside Verstappen in Baku.
Verstappen’s own future is already secure for several more seasons. The Dutchman signed a new contract with Red Bull earlier in 2026 that keeps him with the team until the end of 2030. This means Red Bull now has both of its drivers confirmed for the 2027 season.
Mekies said Hadjar had been “superb on and off track” since joining Red Bull and highlighted his work with the team’s engineers. The team principal added that Hadjar’s performances and approach made extending his contract an easy decision.
