LAMBIASE TO LEAVE RED BULL FOR MCLAREN IN 2028
Dutch journalist Erik van Haren has reported major news that could change the future of Formula 1 teams. According to him, Gianpiero Lambiase, the race engineer of Max Verstappen and Head of Racing at Red Bull Racing, will leave the team at the end of the 2027 season. The Italian engineer is expected to join McLaren in 2028.
At McLaren, Lambiase is expected to take on one of the most important roles in the team. Reports say he will replace Andrea Stella as team principal. Stella has been leading McLaren in recent years and has helped the team return to the front of the grid, but rumors suggest he could leave the team in the future.
One possible destination for Stella is Ferrari. The Italian team is often linked with leadership changes, and some reports say Stella could return there if the opportunity appears. This possible move would create a chain reaction between three major Formula 1 teams.
The potential move of Lambiase is important because he has played a key role in Verstappen’s success at Red Bull. As Verstappen’s race engineer, he has been the voice guiding the Dutch driver during races and has helped the team make many crucial strategy decisions.
Because of their strong partnership, some fans and analysts are now wondering if this change could also be a sign about Verstappen’s future. If Lambiase moves to McLaren, it raises questions about whether Verstappen might one day consider a move as well.
For now, nothing has been confirmed about Verstappen leaving Red Bull. However, in Formula 1, big changes behind the scenes can sometimes lead to major driver moves in the following years. If this report becomes reality, it could be the beginning of a new chapter for several teams on the grid.
