MERCEDES PREPARES CANADA UPGRADES TO IMPROVE RACE STARTS

Mercedes is set to bring a major upgrade package to the Canadian Grand Prix as it tries to respond to McLaren’s recent progress.

The W17 is expected to receive updates to several key areas, including the front wing, floor and bodywork. These changes are aimed at improving overall performance and helping Mercedes become more competitive again.

However, the most interesting update is not only physical. Mercedes is also bringing new software designed to improve race starts.

The goal of the software is to help the car better understand the real grip level of the track at the start. By reading the available grip more accurately, the system should help the driver manage traction and reduce wheelspin when the lights go out.

Mercedes has lost an important number of positions in race starts this year. If the new software works well, Mercedes could gain an important advantage in the opening moments of a race.
