MITCH EVANS CHARGES FROM NINTH TO WIN THRILLING WET FORMULA E RACE IN MIAMI
Mitch Evans claimed a strong win in a rain-affected Miami Formula E race, giving Jaguar their first big result of the 2025–26 season. The Kiwi driver started ninth on the grid but worked his way through the pack to take the lead and control the race.
Rain fell about 45 minutes before the race at the Miami International Autodrome, which uses a shorter layout of the Formula 1 track. The rain had stopped before the start, but the first four laps ran behind the Safety Car to keep drivers safe on the wet track.
When the race went green, polesitter Nico Mueller led into Turn 1, but rookie Felipe Drugovich quickly moved into first after activating Attack Mode and using the car’s all-wheel drive on the slippery surface. Mueller regained the lead after the first Attack Mode cycle.
Meanwhile, a clash between Drugovich and Jaguar’s Antonio Felix da Costa, as the rain picked up, removed both from the battle for victory. Drugovich damaged his front wing and pitted, later receiving a 10-second penalty, while da Costa dropped back to eighth.
Evans took advantage, moving from the back of the top ten into the top three after his first Attack Mode use. He then passed his teammate da Costa for second, setting up a perfect switchback move on lap 27 to pass Mueller for the lead. From there, Evans controlled the race, timed his second Attack Mode perfectly, and crossed the finish line 3.1 seconds ahead, marking his 15th Formula E win and passing 1,000 career points.
Mueller finished second, with Pascal Wehrlein climbing from 11th on the grid to take third for Porsche. Joel Eriksson achieved a career-best fourth, followed by Nyck de Vries and Edo Mortara in fifth and sixth. Sebastien Buemi advanced from last on the grid to seventh, while rookie Pepe Martí scored points again for Cupra Kiro-Porsche. Andretti scored only one point through Jake Dennis.
Defending champion Oliver Rowland could only finish 12th, and points leader Nick Cassidy had a difficult day, finishing 16th and a lap down. Despite the tough race, Cassidy still leads the Drivers’ standings, 40 points to Wehrlein’s 38, while Porsche now lead the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ championships.
The Formula E season continues in Jeddah in two weeks with a PIT BOOST double-header on 13–14 February 2026.
