RED BULL RESTRUCTURES TECHNICAL TEAM
After a long series of departures, most recently Giampiero Lambiase, who will leave at the end of next season to join McLaren, Red Bull Racing has announced changes to its technical structure. The goal is to strengthen performance and development areas.
The main change is the promotion of Ben Waterhouse, who becomes Chief Performance and Design Engineer. He will now oversee both the Design and Vehicle Performance departments and report directly to technical director Pierre Waché. His role is to improve coordination between these two key areas in car development.
Waterhouse joined Red Bull in 2014 after working at BMW Sauber. He first worked as Deputy Technical Director at Toro Rosso, before becoming Head of Performance Engineering in the main team in 2017. This promotion is seen as a natural step in his career. According to the team, the new structure should improve teamwork and speed up development in an increasingly complex set of regulations.
From July 1, Andrea Landi will also join the team as Head of Performance, reporting to Waterhouse. Landi has strong experience in Formula 1, having worked as Deputy Head of Vehicle Performance at Scuderia Ferrari and as Deputy Technical Director at Racing Bulls.
