THE END OF AN ERA: RENÉ ROSIN AND THE ROSIN FAMILY DEPART PREMA RACING

The Rosin family has left Prema, the racing team founded by Angelo Rosin in 1983. The reasons for the separation have not been made public.

The news has had a strong impact across the motorsport world. Over the years, Prema grew into one of the leading teams in junior single-seater racing. The Rosin family, including Angelo Rosin, Grazia Troncon, René Rosin and Angelina Ertsou, played a central role in the team’s management and left the organization together earlier this week.

Prema became a key reference point in Formula 4, Formula Regional, Formula 3 and Formula 2, winning dozens of titles. The team was known not only for its results, but also for developing young drivers and guiding them from karting all the way to the edge of Formula 1. Many Formula 1 teams worked closely with Prema through their junior programs.

Between 2015 and 2021, the team was controlled by Lawrence Stroll through a company linked to him. During that time, Lance Stroll completed his entire junior career with Prema before reaching Formula 1. In 2021, ownership changed again, with Prema coming under the control of DC Racing Solutions Ltd., connected to the Iron Lynx project led by Deborah Mayer. This led to an expansion into WEC and IndyCar, while keeping a strong presence in the junior categories.

In more than forty years of racing, Prema won over seventy drivers’ and teams’ titles. At the team’s 40th anniversary celebration in Venice two years ago, many former drivers attended, highlighting the strong personal bonds built within the team.

Today, nine drivers on the current Formula 1 grid previously raced for Prema, including recent names such as Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman and Arvid Lindblad.

With the departure of the Rosin family, we still do not know who will take control of the team, but a major chapter in Prema’s history comes to an end. Replacing the leadership and legacy built over four decades will be a difficult task.
