FORMULA E ROOKIES TEST RETURNS IN MADRID: THE LINE-UP

Formula E is giving young drivers another big chance. The rookie test is back at the 2026 Madrid E-Prix, where less experienced drivers will get behind the wheel of the GEN3 Evo, the fastest electric race car ever built.

The test will take place at the Circuito del Jarama on Sunday, March 22. All teams will run two cars during a full-day session, with 20 drivers sharing the track.

This test is an important opportunity for young talents. Formula E has become a strong pathway for drivers looking to reach top-level racing. It gives them track time, experience with teams, and a chance to prove their speed.

A good example is Felipe Drugovich. He took part in two rookies tests before racing with Mahindra last season, replacing Nyck de Vries. Now, he is a full-time driver with Andretti.

The rookies test has been held six times since 2018 (it did not take place in 2021 and 2022). Over the years, it has featured drivers like Alexander Albon, Pietro Fittipaldi, and Robert Shwartzman.

This year is also special because Formula E returns to Spain for the first time since the Valencia race in Season 7.
