OLIVER BEARMAN SUFFERS A 50G CRASH BUT IS EXPECTED TO RETURN FOR MIAMI
Oliver Bearman suffered a heavy crash during the Japanese Grand Prix at Turn 13. The accident happened because of a large speed difference between him and Franco Colapinto.
Colapinto was slowing down to around 260 km/h due to the super clipping, while Bearman approached at 308 km/h. Trying to react too quickly to the gap, Bearman lost control, went onto the grass, and hit the wall with an impact of about 50G.
Fortunately, Bearman was able to get out of the car on his own, although he was limping. Remarkably, he did not suffer any fractures, but he did sustain a contusion to his right knee from the impact.
The team expects Bearman to recover quickly, which should allow him to return in time for the Miami Grand Prix in 35 days, the fourth round of the championship. Despite the severity of the crash, his ability to walk away from the accident is a positive sign for his recovery.
