BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX SUSPENDED AGAIN AS F1 REVIEWS 2026 CALENDAR
The 2026 Formula 1 calendar has been hit by further uncertainty after the Bahrain Grand Prix was suspended once again because of the ongoing instability in the Middle East.
The race had already been postponed earlier in the season and was rescheduled for October 4. However, Formula 1 has now been forced to suspend the event again while monitoring the evolving situation in the region.
As officials look for alternatives, the most likely solution is to create a double-header featuring the Singapore and Azerbaijan Grands Prix. This option is currently considered the leading replacement if Bahrain is unable to return to the calendar later this year.
Istanbul Park has also been discussed as a possible substitute venue, but the Turkish circuit is not expected to host a race because it requires significant infrastructure upgrades before it can meet Formula 1 standards.
The uncertainty is not limited to Bahrain. The Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix, both scheduled for the final part of the season, are also under constant review as Formula 1 continues to monitor the situation across the Middle East.
Teams are expecting more information during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, while a final decision on the second half of the 2026 Formula 1 calendar is expected to be made by the Dutch Grand Prix weekend at Zandvoort.
