ANTONIO FELIX DA COSTA VERY HAPPY OF WEC RETURN

For the 2024 and the 2025 season, the Portuguese Antonio Félix da Costa was denied of a campaign in WEC while racing in Formula-E for Porsche, but it will not be the same in 2026.

Da Costa has signed for Jaguar in Formula-E season 12 and has regained the possibility of taking part in the most competitive endurance championship there has ever been in motorsports.

The 34-year-old has joined Alpine as a replacement of Mick Schumacher, who signed a contract with Rahal Letterman Lanigan in Indycar.

Last time Da Costa competed in WEC was in 2023, he raced with the Team JOTA Hertz in the Hypercar class, when they were still operating the Porsche 963, having a best result of fourth in Bahrain.

Antonio comes from two seasons in the fight for the title in Formula-E, having won four races but never being able to beat his previous team mate Pascal Wehrlein.

He will now join Jaguar as a team mate of Mitch Evans trying to keep his momentum up. When Motorsportsclicks asked the Portuguese the feelings on his return to the WEC, he did not hide the joy:

“It is so great to be back. I was wanting to return so much to the WEC, to that paddock. I worked very hard to be a good endurance driver, and with Porsche I did not have the opportunity to do the double campaign (alongside Formula-E).”

“I am very happy with the decision it has been made, now that I got the flexibility back, I can not wait to start there back again”.

Da Costa has got a very good history in endurance racing, having won races with JOTA’s LMP2 in the past he will be very excited to jump back in the machinery.

It is not news that Antonio loves racing in Brazil, he has always had very good relationships with the people and loves the atmosphere here. However, he does desire to have a Formula-E race at his homeland back in Portugal:

“I would love to have a race in Portugal, if I could choose a city I would say Cascais, it is where I live, it is a big dream to race in the streets of my city.”
