BRAZILIAN MOTO2 RIDER DIOGO MOREIRA TO STEP UP TO MOTOGP

The Italtrans rider from Brazil, Diogo Moreira, is one of the most promising title contenders in Moto2, sitting 4th in the standings with 2 wins and 3 pole positions. It is confirmed that he will get the promotion to MotoGP in 2026.

Moreira was initially set to continue for another year in Moto2, with the team bLU cRU, as long as it would guarantee the Brazilian a ride in MotoGP in 2027 with Yamaha.

Diogo has got a partnership with Yamaha Brazil who provides him the bikes for training, and it would keep the agreement between both parts strong going into MotoGP.

However, as per Italian media (Rosario Triolo), Diogo Moreira has already told the team Italtrans that he would leave Moto2 at the end of the 2025 MotoGP season.

The Brazilian has got two options to choose from: Yamaha, where he has got a technical partnership, as mentioned above. The second one would be Honda, which is offering him the best proposal: a higher salary, no super talents on the same line-up (such as Toprak Razgatlioglu in Yamaha), and a contract with the factory team.

In case Moreira continues with Yamaha, Manu Gonzalez, leader of the Moto2 standings would sign with Honda, as he is not willing to continue in Moto2, and wants the immediate promotion.

Moreira would be the first Brazilian on the MotoGP grid since Alexandre Barros, who raced in the series from 2002 to 2007, winning 3 races with Honda.
