BROWNING GETS POLE IN FORMULA 2 AS RIVALS RETIRE FROM QUALIFYING

Luke Browning is on pole position for the first time in Formula 2 this season, qualifying ahead of Richard Verschoor and Kush Maini.

The qualifying started with Dunne and Maini setting the fastest times, and as Fornaroli was trying to get himself up from the top 9, one of the home heroes Gabriele Mini stopped at the exit of the first Lesmo corner due to an engine issue, which has caused the Italian to retire.

Cian Shields also stopped at the entry of the pitlane due to engine problems, and we have had two victims of the Mecachrome equipment in the first half of qualy.

The green flag is back and Luke Browning set an incredible 32.3, which was three tenths faster than the rest of the field. Verschoor got P2, and Maini went up to P3.

The red flag was out again as Leonardo Fornaroli also lost his engine, which means a third retirement due to Mecachrome issues, and 2 out of 2 Italians retired in qualy.

However, as the green flag was back, nobody was able to set a faster lap, due to Richard Verschoor crashing at turn 6 with two minutes left. The session ended earlier than expected and Luke Browning took his first ever pole position in Formula 2.

The drivers will race for the Sprint at 14:15 CET Time.
