CADILLAC IS UNDERSTOOD TO HAVE CHOSEN THEIR FORMULA 1 DRIVERS

As we approach the end of the 2025 Formula 1 year, Cadillac seems to have decided their drivers for their debuting season.

A long story is coming to an end: the American team is confirming who will occupy their seat in 2026, and an experienced pair is on the verge of being officially announced.

Several young drivers have been considered since the beginning, mainly the Chinese Guanyu Zhou, whose manager Graeme Lowdon, will be the Team Principal of the team. However, it is understood that Zhou will be the team’s third driver at least for the debut season, coming on loan from Ferrari. An agreement that does make sense since the Italian team provides power units to Cadillac.

Mick Schumacher, was also one of the contenders. The German is currently racing in the Hypercar class in the WEC with Alpine, and while the talks with Cadillac for the Formula 1 seat did not end up as hoped, he could be an option for the American team in one of the JOTA’s car in the Endurance Championship.

Felipe Drugovich was understood to be a serious candidate in the race for a drive as well. The Aston Martin Junior has rejected many offers since his Formula 2 title in order to stay in contact with the Formula 1 world, but when the opportunity at Cadillac appeared, the conversations did not get into a positive conclusion.

Even the aussie Jack Doohan, who was dropped by Alpine at the start of the season, recently got in touch with Cadillac.

However, two experienced drivers will be fulfilling Cadillac’s line-up for the 2026 Formula 1 season, they are Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez.

Racingnews365.com and Formula.hu have learned that Valtteri Bottas has reached an agreement with the American team and is set to be announced in the following days.

The Mercedes reserve driver has rejected a proposal to finish this season with Alpine, and looks ready to drive his first ever car powered by a Ferrari engine.

The same sources have confirmed that the Mexican driver Sergio Pérez will come back to the Formula 1 grid next season with Cadillac. He is set to be announced during the weekend of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in two weeks time.

This will mark the return of both drivers from a year-off from Formula 1, marking the birth of an exciting project inside the pinnacle of motorsport.
