DORIANE PIN STARTS F1 ACADEMY WEEKEND ON TOP

Championship leader Doriane Pin opened her Singapore weekend on top, as the Mercedes driver topped the timesheets in Free Practice at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Pin set the benchmark with a 2:03.944, narrowly edging out Maya Weug and Alisha Palmowski, with the trio separated by just 0.051s at the flag.

The session began with Alba Larsen recording the first timed effort, a 2:22.717, though her lap was swiftly beaten by MP Motorsport’s Joanne Ciconte and then Ferrari’s Weug. The latter initially established herself out front with a 2:07.505, later improving to a 2:05.294 to open a margin of over a second to Pin.

Unwilling to let that stand, Pin responded with a 2:05.086 to reclaim the lead, while Palmowski also slotted into contention as the track surface continued to improve. Pin dipped into the 2:04s before Weug reclaimed top spot with a 2:04.370, the pair opening up a gap of six-tenths to fourth-placed Jessica Chambers.

Midway through the session, a brief yellow flag was brought out after Wild Card entrant Lisa Billard spun into the run-off at the final corner, though she was able to recover without incident.

In the closing stages, Palmowski surged to the top with a 2:04.025, only for Weug to respond moments later on a 2:03.966. But her time at the summit was short-lived, as Pin delivered a final lap of 2:03.944 to secure first place, 0.022s clear of Weug. The Ferrari driver’s session ended in the wall after her final effort, though she held on to second, with Palmowski third, just 0.051s away. Chambers concluded the top four, over half a second adrift.

Behind them, McLaren’s Ella Lloyd marked her Singapore return with fifth ahead of Billard and Aurelia Nobels. Tina Hausmann finished eighth, followed by Nina Gademan in ninth and Emma Felbermayr completing the top 10.

Action will resume under the lights later today, with Qualifying scheduled for 19:00 local time.
