FEFO BARRICHELLO “HONOURED TO CARRY FAMILY’S NAME” TO F1 FEEDER SERIES
During the weekend of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, Fefo Barrichello has been announced as the newest driver of the AIX Racing Team for the 2026 Formula 3 season, having the chance to prepare himself at the 2025 Grand Finale here at Monza, as he was chosen to replace James Hedley with the Brit moving to Van Amersfoort.
Fefo Barrichello raced both the 2024 and 2025 (almost complete) seasons with team MotoPark in EuroFormula Open, being a title contender in both season with 2 wins combined.
The name Barrichello has returned to the Formula 1 weekends with the son of the Great Rubens Barrichello, 6-time F1 constructors champion with Ferrari, signing for the AIX team:
“It’s an honour for me to carry the name of my family around the F1 world, I will make sure I work hard enough to achieve the results I want.” The Brazilian told Motorsportsclicks.
Fefo Barrichello’s announcement to drive for AIX for 2026 means the grid will see again two Brazilian drivers fighting for the top spots once again, continuing the tradition of the last few seasons with Gabriel Bortoleto and Rafael Camara.
AIX is the first team to almost announce its full line-up until for 2026 so far, as the driver from Sri Lanka, Yevan David, will be joining the Brazilian in Formula 3 next season, with Emmo Fittipaldi Jr being revealed as the first of two Formula 2 drivers for the German team.
Fefo’s goals are set and he is quite straightforward about what he wants to achieve this weekend:
“Although it is currently a small step up from the EuroFormula car, I am working to understand what the car wants from me in order to adapt as fast as possible. The time is very limited, but I will try to work my way up, and go after a top 12 in qualy, which would be amazing to stay in the point scorers zone.”

Fefo is currently studying the car as much as possible with his engineers, and when asked about whether he was learning from his team mates’ data and experience, he confirmed that he is indeed receiving the help from them.
AIX has one of the most experienced drivers on the grid, the American Brad Benavides. Being in a team where one of your team mates have been driving the car around for a few years, is a great advantage when you get to study the data and prepare for the weekend.
Let’s not forget that Benavides has qualified twice in the front row this season, with one of them being pole at Spa-Francorchamps, race that sadly did not take part due to heavy rain conditions. Fefo Barrichello is committed to achieve his goals this weekend, even more with the resources he has inside AIX.
The Brazilian driver told Motorsportsclicks he is “enthusiast to debut at such an iconic track”, where he already got a podium while driving in EuroFormula Open in 2024.
Barrichello will certainly try to make the most out of it and show off his family’s talent running through his blood, as he prepares for one of the most important weekends of his life.
He will not have the physical support from his relatives’ who are racing, as his dad Rubens is racing in Stock Car Brazil this weekend, on the same track as his cousin Felipe Barrichello Bartz who takes part in the feeder series Stock Light Series. His brother Dudu Barrichello will be behind the wheel of the Aston Martin GT3 at COTA for the third to last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
