FORNAROLI WINS FOURTH RACE IN FOUR WEEKENDS OF FORMULA 2
Leonardo Fornaroli has won the sprint race at Monza after an engine failure in the Formula 2 qualifying, which fortunately did not drop him down in the order, as his rival Verschoor crashed at the end of qualifying, avoiding any other drivers to improve their lap.
Dino Beganovic started in reverse grid pole and has kept the lead through the first few laps, as Fornaroli started in P3 and got the second place from Sami Meguetounif.
Kush Maini was trying to attack Alex Dunne at the second straight going into the La Roggia chicane, but the Irish driver pushed the Alpine junior on the gravel and he got beached there. The driver is safe but had to retire from the sprint on the second lap, safety car deployed.
The Safety car returned to the pits on lap four, and Fornaroli immediately attacked Beganovic for the lead, but locked up into turn 1 and went wide. The Italian did not lose any position and returned to the track right behind the Swede.
Alex Dunne was putting Stanek under pressure for P7 and managed to overtake the Czech into turn 1, as he went wide and had to let Dunne through.
In the meanwhile, Lindblad went for the second position overtaking Beganovic into turn 1, as he found his pace was superior than the Hitech driver.
Dunne attacked Meguetounif for P6 in turn 1, but the French had to cut the chicane, and ended up in the gravel bringing the Mclaren junior with him. Both have got damages on their cars, Meguetounif retired and Dunne finished outside of the points.
In the meantime, Martins has pitted due to a wing damage he had to carry with him since the start of the race, he lost the left flap in a contact in turn 2.
Halfway through the race, Richard Verschoor was already in P7, gaining 7 positions since the start of the race.
Oliver Goethe left the track at turn 1 due to a tire lock and ended up spinning by himself, and at the exact same moment, Mini went straight on into the Biassono straight.
Goethe dropped out of the points, Mini did not lose any time. Villagomez went from P16 to P8, but due to a mistake at Lesmo 2 he dropped out of the points as well, giving Luke Browning the opportunity to grap the final spot for scoring points.
Towards the end of the race, Beganovic has been given a 5 second time penalty due to a Virtual Safety Car infringment, which take his podium away, and Durksen had the opportunity to step on the last place of the podium.
Richard Verschoor managed to stay behind Dino and Durksen and got P4 having started 10 positions behind.
Lindblad and Fornaroli have fought for the win until the last few laps, but the Italian kept the lead until the last lap and won his fourth race in four weekends.

The drivers will get on track for the Feature race at 09:45 AM CET Time.
