FRED VASSEUR EXTENDS WITH FERRARI

Ferraris’s Team Principal Frederic Vasseur has extended his contract for the 2026 season onwards.

The Swiss has signed a multi-year contract, silencing the rumours of being possibly replaced by Christian Horner after the British was fired from Red Bull. In addition, Vasseur’s role was threatened by Ferrari’s poor results at the beginning of the season, with the first podium only arriving at Jeddah with Charles Leclerc.

These are the words of Frederic Vasseur after the contract extension: “I am grateful to Ferrari for the continued trust they have in me. This renewal is not just a confirmation, but a challenge to continue progressing, staying focused, and giving everything I have. Over the last 30 months, we have laid solid foundations, and now we must build with consistency and determination. We know what is expected of us, and we are all fully committed to meeting these expectations and taking the next step forward together.”

Ferrari has recognised Vasseur’s incredible work so far and decided to keep the experient Team Principal inside the team. Determination and Concentration are the words that CEO Benedetto Vigna used to describe the Swiss’ progress.

Vasseur has a long-lasting career inside Motorsport

Having started his career in the 90s, he won four Formula 3 Euroseries championships in a row. Working with Jean Todt’s son Nicholas, he also took part in the foundation of the legendary team ART Grand Prix in 2004. Having to deal with drivers such as Hamilton, Vettel and Rosberg at the early stages of their career, Vasseur has built a spectacular portfolio on his way into Formula 1.

Joining Renault in 2016 as Team Principal in Formula 1, his first experience dictating a team was not enjoyable due to several disagreements with the CEO at the time, Cyril Abiteboul. Following his resignement, he joined Sauber in 2017, managing drivers such as the debutant Charles Leclerc in 2018, where they proved to be a great link up.

He joined Ferrari at the beginning of the 2023 season following the departure of his national fellow Mattia Binotto, and will guide the Scuderia towards the new regulations.
