Freddie Slater has won the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine after winning the first race of the last weekend of the season.

The British driver started the race from P2, while his direct championship rival Matteo de Palo has had a grid penalty which put him down to ninth.

As the race started, De Palo immediately damaged his front wing in a contact on turn 1. This meant only one thing: Freddie had to win the race to secure the championship on the Saturday.

So he did. With an overtake in the last 3 minutes, Freddie manage to overtake Evan Giltaire at the Parabolica corner, and he kept the race lead until the chequered flag.

Freddie Slater has been crowned 2025 FRECA champion with 7 wins and 3 further podiums, defeating Matteo de Palo at Monza, with the third and fourth place yet to be decided. There is one race to go on Sunday during lunch time.

The British driver is going to race in FIA Formula 3 in the 2026 with current drivers’ champions Trident team, having Noah Stromsted and Matteo de Palo.
