FRMET – RACES 2 AND 3: CONTRASTING STRATEGIES AND STOP-START RACES
Races 2 and 3 of the Formula Regional Middle East were marked by tricky conditions, decisive tyre choices and numerous neutralisations…
Race 2: mixed strategies and midfield battles
The second race gets underway behind the Safety Car, with varied strategies in play: some drivers start on slick tyres, while others opt for wet tyres. Right from the first corner, Alex Ninovic loses the lead in an already lively opening phase.
In the midfield, an intense battle develops between Sano, Anurag and Costa for sixth place. As the race reaches halfway, drivers on wet tyres begin to struggle as the track conditions evolve rapidly. Andrea Dupe is sent into a spin while fighting for a top-10 position, ending his hopes of a strong result and his first points.
At the end of a race defined by tyre management, Alex Ninovic takes the win ahead of Jan Przyrowski and Maksimilian Popov.
Race 3: decisive start and a very calm race
In the third race, Rashid Al Dhaheri immediately gains the upper hand at the start, taking the lead from Sebastian Wheldon. Shortly afterwards, the race is neutralised following the retirement of Maksimilian Popov on the opening lap, triggering the Safety Car.
Soon after the restart, another retirement — that of Dion Gowda — brings out the Safety Car for a second time. These successive neutralisations freeze the race, which becomes very calm, with very little on-track fighting.
At the chequered flag, Rashid Al Dhaheri secures the victory ahead of Kean Nakamura-Berta, while Sebastian Wheldon completes the podium in this third race.
