HERTA HAS BEEN PAID 8 MILION DOLLARS TO RACE IN F2

Colton Herta has been reportedly paid $8 milion by Cadillac to race in FIA Formula 2 in the 2026 season with Hitech Grand Prix.

The newest team in Formula 1 wants an American representative on the grid as soon as possible, such as in 2027.

In order to be able to race in the pinnacle of motorsport, Colton would need his superlicence points to be 40, and he currently has 34 FIA Super Licence points.

The American would then need to finish at least eighth in the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season, so as to be promoted to Formula 1 in 2027, replacing either Valtteri Bottas or Sergio Pérez.

Opposite to all the drivers, who usually pay from $3M to $4M for a season, Colton will be one of the only drivers to be paid to race in the Formula 1 feeder series in history.

It will be a complete new journey for Herta, although he knows some of the circuits present in the F2 calendar, as he raced in some during his British F4 and Euroformula Open season. However, Marshall system, sportive and technical regulations will be completely different for him, and it will take him time to adapt.
