“I CALLED HIM UNCLE MICHAEL” – MAX VERSTAPPEN SPENDS BEAUTIFUL WORDS ON MICHAEL SCHUMACHER

Max Verstappen shared beautiful words and shared nice memories about Michael Schumacher in an interview with Blick.

The 4-time world champion admires Michael’s determination and dedication both on and off the track:

“He was a driver who worked tirelessly, skilfully and always gave his best. For him, only the victory mattered, regardless of the way he obtained it.

Like me, on the track, he was always completely focused. And at home he took care of his family, giving them the attention they deserved. I see a parallel between us, both on and off the track.”

Max also reflected on the time spent together as a kid back when Michael and his father Jos were teammates at Benetton.

“I have a wonderful memory of that period, full of photos and videos. My dad Jos was his teammate and our families stayed in touch for many years and we even spent a few vacations together. I called him ‘Uncle Michael’.”

Jos Verstappen once pointed out how Schumi treated Max like a son:

“Michael did not differentiate between Max and Mick. If he had something to say, he told them both. It is quite possible that Max also benefited from these experiences.”
