After qualifying P12 in yesterday’s Formula 3 qualy, Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak took advantage of the grid inversion and got victory from pole.
The first race of the weekend started with absolute carnage in the first lap, with Giusti retiring in sector 3 due to suspension damage in a collision wiht Ugochukwu. Ivan Domingues and Laurens Van Hoepen also made contact during the first lap, which dropped the Portuguese far behind the pack, bringing out the Safety Car.
Ugochukwu’s ride to top three

Ugochukwu started P6 but lost the position to Wurz at the start, but with Giusti’s retirement, he went back to 6th. After the Safety Car went back to the pits, Ugochukwu immediately re-overtook Wurz and started his fight towards the podium.
It took only three laps for the American Mclaren junior to overtake both Badoer and Wharton, and he found himself already in the top 3 places. Whilst the podium battle was going at all steam, Inthraphuvasak took advantage to gain time over the field and extend his lead gap.
Inthraphuvasak holds off

The PREMA driver overtook Hedley for P2 within lap 10, and 4 laps later, he had already got up to Inthraphuvasak in P1, the win seemed close for the American. A collision between Nael and Leon brought out the Safety Car again in lap 14, which stopped Ugochukwu’s drive towards P1.
The SC regime went back to the pits in lap 18, leaving only one lap for Inthraphuvasak to hold the American behind, and with no concerns the Thai won his second sprint race of the season.
