LINDBLAD HOLDS OFF DUERKSEN TO WIN YAS MARINA SPRINT RACE
Arvid Lindblad held off Joshua Duerksen all the way to the line to win the Yas Marina Sprint Race. The Campos Racing driver started from the front and stayed ahead for all 23 laps, taking his third win of the season. Duerksen finished second, and Nikola Tsolov earned his first Formula 2 podium in third, giving Campos two cars in the top three.
Lindblad kept the lead at the start as Duerksen stayed close, even setting the fastest lap early on. Victor Martins dropped from third to sixth in the opening laps, while Dino Beganovic began chasing Oliver Goethe for fourth.
A Virtual Safety Car came out on Lap 8 when John Bennett stopped on track. When racing resumed, Duerksen pushed hard but ran wide at Turn 12, losing DRS range to Lindblad.
In the middle of the race, most drivers focused on saving their Medium tyres. Behind the leaders, battles formed between Martins, Dunne, Minì, and Crawford. Crawford moved up steadily, overtaking Minì and later passing Dunne and Martins, even after damaging his front wing in light contact.
Near the end, Duerksen got the gap down to under a second and tried one last attack, but Lindblad stayed ahead to take the win. Beganovic finished fourth after passing Goethe, who came fifth. Crawford took sixth, followed by Martins, and Dunne finished eighth to take the final point.
Championship standings
Leonardo Fornaroli remains champion with 211 points. Crawford moves into second on 173, three ahead of Richard Verschoor. Browning holds fourth with 162, and Dunne is fifth with 150.
In the Teams’ standings, Invicta Racing leads with 297 points, followed by Hitech TGR on 266 and Campos Racing on 255. DAMS Lucas Oil and MP Motorsport complete the top five.
The 2025 season ends with the Yas Marina Feature Race on Sunday at 13:15 local time.
Post-race penalty
After the race, Fornaroli was given a 10-second penalty. He went off-track at Turn 6 while fighting Verschoor and kept his position, the Stewards ruled he gained a lasting advantage. The penalty drops him from P11 to P17 in the final results.
