MICK SCHUMACHER TO RETURN TO SINGLE-SEATERS WITH INDYCAR ANNOUNCEMENT

Mick Schumacher has announced his departure from Alpine in the WEC that is linked to a direct Indycar move.

He competed in the Hypercar class with the Alpine A424, having three podiums (all third places) as best results, at Fuji, Imola and Spa.

Latest rumours say that the German will be waiting for the Mclaren Hypercar (who he will be racing with) to enter WEC in 2027.

While waiting for Mclaren to join the championship in the Hypercar class, the German will be competing in Indycar with the team Rahal Letterman Lanigan in 2026, which he has already tested with at the IMS road course. This will mark the return of Mick to single-seaters after 2 years in sportscars.

Mick’s last season in single seaters was in 2023 when he was Mercedes’ third driver, and had opportunities to do TPC days with the team.
