PIERRE GASLY INVESTS IN MOTOGP TEAM TECH3

Pierre Gasly, the Alpine Formula 1 driver, has bought shares in the Tech3 MotoGP team through his Trail Slam investment fund. This move comes months after the team was taken over by investors led by Gunther Steiner and IKON Capital in September 2025.

Tech3 announced a fresh round of shareholders, including BoltVentures, led by David Blitzer, who owns stakes in NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB, and MLS teams, and Main Street Advisors, managed by Paul Wachter with $8.7 billion in sport and entertainment assets. Additional investors feature ALK Capital, Barry English of Penman Holdings, Tom Stafford, Charles de Carvalho, and Richard Cook from Dolphin Capital. Exact share allocations were not revealed.

TEAM OWNERSHIP SHIFT

The September 2025 takeover of the team ended Herve Poncharal’s long timespan as owner, with Gunther Steiner stepping in as CEO while operations stay based in Bormes-les-Mimosas, France. Gasly’s investment marks him as the first active F1 driver to hold a stake in MotoGP, ahead of interest from Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

GASLY’S BROADER VENTURES

This is not Gasly’s first sports investment; he already owns shares in French football club FC Versailles. His entry positions him uniquely across motorsport categories.

LEADERSHIP REACTIONS

Steiner highlighted the group’s shared long-term vision: “It’s a very exciting time to be entering MotoGP… We are committed to preserving Tech3’s heritage while taking a measured, strategic approach to growth.” MotoGP chief sporting officer Carlos Ezpeleta called it a “strong endorsement for MotoGP,” eager to expand the championship’s global reach.
