ROMAN STANEK TAKES FORMULA 2 POLE IN HUNGARY
Thrilling qualifying session in Formula 2
Formula 2 is back on track after this morning’s only practice session, which saw Luke Browning in P1.
Qualifying on afternoon has been the best session that Invicta Racing could have wished for, as it is a 1-2 for the team led by the Belgian’s Feature Race winner Roman Stanek, and Leo Fornaroli in second place, who won the Sprint Race in Spa-Francochamps, and is now leading the championship.
The team is coming from a perfect weekend in Belgium, and they surely want to continue this streak in Hungary.
The current championship leader has been one of the last drivers to start a lap, and he had got provisional pole position, but his lap time had been deleted for track limits in Turn 1. His second attempt only brought him up into P10, and then he was one of the last drivers to try and improve himself towards the end of the session with Gabriele Minì (who didn’t improve and stayed P12). Fornaroli missed pole position by 1 and a half tenths of a second.
How did the title contenders do
Great result for Jak Crawford, the American driver manages to get P3, while Richard Verschoor only got P11, loosing the opportunity to start from the first position in tomorrow’s sprint race and he will have to climb up the order if he wants to score some points in both races.
Not a strong result from Alex Dunne as well, as the Irish only got P9 and is under investigation for unsafe release, so he could loose the chance to start second in tomorrow’s sprint.
The Sprint Race will kick off tomorrow ar 14:15 CET time, with the top 10 of qualy reversed, meaning that Campos driver Pepe Marti starts on pole.
