SEBASTIAN WHELDON SEALS WIN OF THE FIRST RACE OF THE ITALIAN F4 WEEKEND
Sebastian Wheldon has won race 1 of 5 in Italian Formula 4 at Misano after starting from pole position and leading all session long.
Salim Hanna was starting alongside Wheldon in the first row, but has had a bad lunch off the line and ended up falling down the order in lap 1, and got immediately behind his team mate Nakamura-Berta in P5.
Luka Sammalisto had a very good start and immediately attacked the Colombian into turn 1, going up to P3, but it did not take much for the championship leader Kean Nakamura-Berta to overtake him and get into a crucial podium position.
Within the first two laps, Artem Severiukhin, Reno Francot and Marcus Saeter broke their front wings and had to pit for a change.
The battle for P5 was going at full steam for the Maffi racing driver Kirill Kutskov, as he was fighting against Oleksandr Bondarev, Dante Vinci and Salim Hanna. Luka Sammalisto joined them later on and it became a fight for P4.
With 10 minutes to go, Kean Nakamura-Berta managed to get in the tow of Maksimilian Popov for the second position.
It took Kean five minutes to overtake the Granadine, and with a brilliant move around the outside in turn 10, the Japanese has got into P2.
Towards the end of the race, Max Popov was being chased by Luka Sammalisto, who has had a flying pace since the start of the weekend, but did not managed to take the podium positions.
Sebastian Wheldon won the race ahead of his team mate Kean, with Max Popov holding on to P3 and Luka Sammalisto P4. Salim Hanna sealed the top 5 ahead of Bondarev, Vinci and a great Kirill Kutskov. Aleksander Ruta finished P9, with the Argentinian Teo Schropp closing the top 10.
