TRIDENT CHANGES LINE-UP FOR THE REST OF THE FORMULA 2 SEASON
The Italian team Trident has announced a change of their Formula 2 line-up for the rest of the 2025 Formula 2 season.
The team based in Milan has had a very difficult season in the Formula 1’s main feeder series. Sami Meguetounif and Max Esterson were the drivers initially chosen to complete fulfill Trident’s line-up for the whole season.
However, with only two points being scored, only by Sami Meguetounif, the team finds themselves last in the constructors standings, with one of its drivers having scored 0 points throughout the year.
After the Italian Grand Prix, which was marked with 3 DNFs counting both drivers in both races, the struggles just kept increasing for Trident, who recently brought home the F3 drivers’ title, but lost out on the Teams’ one.

Motorsportsclicks was then told after the event was over that both Meguetounif and Esterson would have been replaced before the Baku round which is due to take place on September 19-21.
Two drivers who are set to drive in FIA Formula 2 in the 2026 season, Laurens Van Hoepen and Martinius Stenshorne, have been called up to initially race at Baku, but they should be set to finish the season with Trident.
Stenshorne has completed two full seasons in FIA Formula 3 with Hitech, winning three races with two further podiums, with a 5th place finish in this year’s standings for the Mclaren Junior.
Laurens Van Hoepen however, did not manage to win any race in two full seasons in the series, but has managed to collect five podiums over both years with ART Grand Prix.
Rafael Camara, FIA Formula 3 champion in 2025 with Trident, was set to race the last 2 rounds of the 2025 Formula 2 seasons with the same team as he raced in F3, but rumours say the performance of the car has “scared” the Brazilian, therefore, he shall move up to Formula 2 within Qatar, but with another team.
