VERSCHOOR TOPS FORMULA 2 TIMESHEETS IN FREE PRACTICE

Formula 2 has hit the track for the first time this weekend with Free Practice which was packed with action, and no session interruptions until the last two minutes, which saw Joshua Durksen spin out at Ascari.

The session has started with some race pace simulation from the drivers, with Kush Maini initially leading the field lapping in mid 1:33s.

The MP Motorsport cars also have shown a really great pace as both cars were consistently setting top 5 times.

With 15 minutes left to the session they were joined by Campos’ driver Arvid Lindblad in the top 5. The British is looking strong in the last few races and wants to get back to the title fight.

The championship contenders Luke Browning and Alexander Dunne have got in the mix as well for the fastest lap, as ending of the session meant last few pushes to practice the qualifying lap.

Richard Verschoor ended up setting a 1:32.5, 7 tenths slower than last year’s pole position from Kush Maini. The track still lacks grip due to yesterday’s thunderstorm which hit the area during the night.

The championship leader Leonardo Fornaroli was not able to put a lap together, as he got blocked while trying, and a red flag came out with two minutes to the end with Joshua Durksen crashing at the penultimate corner.

The runner-up Jak Crawford managed to get within the top 10 at the end and he will try to reduce his points gap to Fornaroli this weekend.

The drivers will get on track for qualifying at 15:55 CET Time.
