WEC SHOWDOWN UNDER THE LIGHTS OF BAHRAIN

The final round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship is about to begin. The season ends in Bahrain with an eight-hour race that will decide both the Hypercar and LMGT3 titles.

From daylight to darkness, Ferrari must defend its lead in the Constructors’ and Drivers’ standings from Porsche-Penske, running their last Hypercar race, and from Cadillac-Jota, which still has a small chance in the drivers’ title fight.

Because this race is longer, the points are higher, 38 for the winner instead of 25, making the battle wide open. The Bahrain track is one of the toughest on the calendar, demanding on cars and drivers, and changing a lot as day turns into night.

The fight for the Constructors’ Championship, the most important title in the WEC, is between Ferrari and Porsche. Ferrari leads by 39 points over Porsche, but there are still 66 points available between pole position and a 1-2 finish. That means the title is not yet decided. If one of the two factory Ferraris finishes second in Bahrain, Ferrari will win the championship no matter what Porsche does.

The Drivers’ Championship is also close. Antonio Giovinazzi, Alessandro Pier Guidi, and James Calado lead with their #51 Ferrari 499P, holding 115 points, 13 ahead of the #83 AF Corse Ferrari driven by Robert Kubica, Phil Hanson, and Ye Yifei, winners of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Most of Ferrari’s points came early in the season, during a dominant run of four straight wins. But after Interlagos, things changed. Porsche Penske improved and now arrives in Bahrain with Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor just 21 points behind. Cadillac’s Alex Lynn, Norman Nato, and Will Stevens also have a small mathematical chance at the title, but they must win the race and hope both Ferrari and Porsche have bad luck to close the 34-point gap. Other teams like Alpine (fresh from victory at Fuji), Aston Martin, BMW, Peugeot, and Toyota could also influence the race and affect the title results.

LMGT3: A Four-Way Battle

Alongside the 18 Hypercars, the LMGT3 class adds another close title fight. The #92 Manthey Porsche leads with 105 points, only nine ahead of the AF Corse Ferrari. The TF Sport Corvettes are still in the fight too, the #81 trails by 24 points, and the sister car is 35 behind.

In both Hypercar and LMGT3, the 2025 FIA WEC season comes down to the same great rivalry: Ferrari, Porsche, and the General Motors teams fighting for the final glory of the year in Bahrain.

Hypercar BoP

Ferrari: Slight weight increase + reduced stint energy → tire conservation essential
Toyota: Minor power improvement on long stints → stronger at night
Porsche: Improved fuel efficiency → can control pit timing
Cadillac: Slight power gain, weight unchanged → better corner exit and acceleration.

LMGT3 BoP

Porsche 911 GT3R: Light weight reduction → strong in long stints
Ferrari 296 GT3: Stable / unchanged → careful tire management early
Aston Martin Vantage GT3: Small power reduction → relies on smooth driving and corner exits
Corvette / Lexus: Aero efficiency tweaks → better straight-line defense in traffic
