WHEATLEY LEAVES AUDI F1 WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT

Audi confirmed that Wheatley will leave the team with immediate effect. The company said the decision is due to personal reasons. For now, Audi CEO Mattia Binotto will step in and take over his role.

Wheatley is expected to join Aston Martin, where he will replace Adrian Newey as team principal. This move could have a big impact on the future of the team.

However, Wheatley will not be able to start right away. Like many senior figures in Formula 1, he will likely have a “gardening leave” period. This means he must wait some time before working with his new team.

The exact length of this waiting period is not yet known.

This change comes at an important time for both teams, as Audi prepares for its future in Formula 1 and Aston Martin looks to solve the team’s problems at the start of 2026.
