MARC MARQUEZ WINS SPRINT RACE FROM FOURTH

Marc Marquez has won the Sprint Race of the Austrian GP. It is now his 13th win in Sprint races, 3 less than current World champion Jorge Martin.

Marco Bezzecchi qualified on pole position ahead of Alex Marquez, Bagnaia and Marc Marquez. However, both Italians did not have the best of the starts. The Bez fell down to P4, while Bagnaia found a technical issue on the rear tire which dropped him to P14 at the start.

Fermin Aldeguer, who was starting P5, also had the same issue of Bagnaia at the start by losing the rear, but he managed to stay in the top 10.

Bagnaia had to retire from the race later on due to the issue on his rear tire. Meanwhile, Raul Fernandez, who was fighting for P5 with Brad Binder, also had to retire from the race due to technical issues.

Alex Marquez was doing everything he could to keep his brother behind. On lap 10 however, Marc got momentum over Alex, and at the exit of turn 2b, he had a much better exit and overtook the Gresini in turn 3.

Bezzecchi was having a look into recovering the position on Acosta, but the Italian is struggling under the braking zones since the start of the weekend as he stated post Sprint race, opposite to Acosta who looks very strong in decceleration. The Aprilia rider finished P4.

Marc Marquez ended up taking his 12th win of the season in Sprint races, opening up 123 points in the standings to his brother, and 180 to Bagnaia.
