CHRISTIAN RASMUSSEN TAKES FIRST EVER WIN IN INDYCAR

The Danish Christian Rasmussen has won his first ever race in Indycar, the first one for Ed Carpenter since the Indianapolis Road Course GP with Rinus Veekay.

After a good qualifying from Rasmussen, finishing P10 ahead of his team mate Alexander Rossi, P13, the Ed Carpenter drivers were positive to aim for a good result in Sunday’s race.

Alex Palou has taken another pole position for this weekend’s Milwaukee Mile 250, ahead of David Malukas. Both drivers seemed the favourite contenders for the win all weekend long.

At the start of the race, David Malukas tried to snatch the lead from Palou, but the Spaniard kept the first place. In the meantime, Nolan Siegel ended up putting the car in the wall at the end of lap 1 bringing out the first caution of the race.

At the restart, another caution came out as Graham Rahal almost spun in the middle of the pack. Green flag number three saw David Malukas attack Palou again for the lead, and he made it to P1. His time at the lead did not last too much, and around 10 laps later, Palou was back at the lead.

Scott Mclaughlin in the meantime kept P3 looking forward to get another podium with Penske.

Alex Palou was able to keep the lead for basically 90% of the race, however, small rain drops with 40 laps to go, brought out a late caution, which was a key moment for the race.

Christian Rasmussen was in a great position, and he stated before the race that if a late caution came out, he would have certainly stopped for the fuel and tire advantage.

Christian Rasmussen stopped in the pits and made a charge through the field starting from Newgarden in P6. The Danish arrived in Palou’s tow within 15 laps, and with 10 laps to the end, he was ahead of the Spaniard. A lucky moment for the Ed Carpenter team brought Rasmussen towards his first win in Indycar.
