INDYCAR MOVES FROM TORONTO TO MARKHAM IN 2026
During a press conference held today, IndyCar has announced that the race in Canada is going to be moved from Toronto to Markham, Ontario; the organizers signed a multiyear agreement, and the race is set to take place from the 14th to the 16th of August 2026.
Toronto has been in the open-wheel series since 1986, and has hosted almost every single Grand Prix since then, but now IndyCar is moving to the York state, due to the upcoming Football World Cup.
With a promising 2.19-mile layout, featuring 12 turns, the growing city of Markham is already under way to provide a spectacular GP in Canada, and to continue Toronto’s legacy in the calendar. The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy has always had its race in the middle of July, but it is now moving to August.
Ex-IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe believes a lot in the project, saying: “Markham was my first home and where my racing dreams took root, so, it’s extra special to know the NTT INDYCAR SERIES will be there starting with the 2026 season. Ontario has some incredibly passionate open-wheel racing fans, and I can’t wait to see them lining the streets for an epic event.”

Since the season finale in Nashville, the off season has been characterized by a lot of shocking news, and we are going to have even more. Stay tuned to not miss them.
