GENESIS WEC 2026 DRIVER LINEUP: FULL OVERVIEW
Genesis Magma Racing is set to make its debut in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with a full-factory Hypercar effort. Backed by Hyundai Motorsport, the team will field two Genesis GMR-001 LMDh prototypes in the Hypercar category.
Here’s a full breakdown of the confirmed drivers, their backgrounds, and what to expect from the Genesis driver program.

FIRST CAR LINE UP
André Lotterer
One of the most successful endurance drivers of his generation, Lotterer brings vast experience to Genesis. With multiple 24 Hours of Le Mans victories and a deep background in both WEC and Formula E, he will play a key role as a lead and development driver.
“I’m beyond thrilled and thankful to join the Genesis brand for its entry into endurance racing. This opportunity is the perfect fit for me to channel my experience, passion and motivation into a new project with a team of highly ambitious individuals. I am excited to start working to build a successful future from the very beginning”, said Lotterer, when it was announced last december that the brand will enter the championship.
Pipo Derani
A proven endurance specialist from the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Derani is known for his pace and consistency in long-distance races. He joins Genesis to co-lead the team alongside Lotterer.
Derani said: “The ambition behind Genesis’s endurance racing project and the track record of those involved was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. As a driver, being involved in something like this from the start is highly rewarding. I look forward to bringing my experience of developing cars and winning titles to the team. It will be a big challenge, but I believe all the necessary ingredients are here to make this endurance journey successful.”

SECOND CAR LINE UP
Mathys Jaubert
A rising talent from Genesis’s own Trajectory Programme, Jaubert has been gaining prototype experience through the 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS). He steps up to the Hypercar class in 2026.
He said about joining the team: “I’m really excited to be joining the Genesis Magma Racing WEC lineup. For me, it’s a big step in my career and a chance to measure myself against the best in the world. The Trajectory Program and my experience in ELMS have been invaluable, not only in terms of learning the technical side and managing long stints, but also in understanding the teamwork and consistency needed at this level.”
Dani Juncadella
With strong credentials in GT and prototype racing, Juncadella is another driver promoted through the Trajectory Programme. He will compete full-time in the 2026 WEC season with Genesis.
“It fits perfectly for me to step up in a championship I know very well. To do it with Genesis Magma Racing, starting from scratch with a brand that aims to be here for many years, makes it even more special. The testing we will do this year will be my first real steps in Hypercar. It was cool to see the car for the first time and do the seat fitting, but I’m really looking forward to jumping behind the wheel for the first time and starting to work with the team, André and Pipo to be ready for the first rounds. Qatar will be a big event for us, as the first time Genesis Magma Racing will compete in WEC. Le Mans is always a highlight of the year – I’ve done it twice already, but being in the top class will be really special”, Juncadella stated.

What’s Still to Come?
While four drivers have been officially confirmed, additional seats in the Genesis Magma Racing lineup remain unannounced. With two Hypercars set to compete in the 2026 WEC season, the team will require at least six drivers—potentially more for endurance events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which typically demand three drivers per car. Additional names may be drawn from Genesis’s in-house Trajectory Programme, or through external signings with proven experience in WEC or IMSA. Further announcements are expected ahead of the 2026 season opener.
