GABRIEL GOMEZ TAKES DOUBLE POLE AT MISANO IN ITALIAN F4
Gabriel Gomez has taken pole position for race 2 and 3 in Italian Formula 4 while his championship rival Kean Nakamura-Berta will start only 8th.
Sebastian Wheldon took the fastest lap in Group 1 qualy with a 1:35.621, ahead of his team mate Zhenrui Chi, who was just over a tenth faster.
Luka Sammalisto, who was flying in both free practice sessions and led them, came only third in his group, which means a sixth position for the Finnish driver.
Championship leader Kean Nakamura-Berta finished only 4th in his group, as the Japanese driver struggled to find the pace all day long.
It means that the PREMA driver will be 8th in both races he will take part in tomorrow. Kabir Anurag finished 5th ahead of the fast Reno Francot.
In Group B, Gomez, Hanna and Popov immediately showed that they were the protagonists to beat, jockeying for position since the start of qualy.
Gabriel Gomez ended up beating Wheldon’s time by almost a tenth and got pole position for race 2 and 3 tomorrow, and with race 5 pole guaranteed, the Brazilian has a great chance of keeping the championship hopes alive as much as possible.
Salim Hanna and Max Popov sealed the top, ahead of Andrea Dupe who makes his best qualifying finish of the year in front of his team mate Oleksandr Bondarev.
