SERGIO PEREZ TO TEST A FERRARI FORMULA 1 CAR AT IMOLA TO PREPARE FOR 2026
After having signed with a team who will have its engine provided by Ferrari – Cadillac – Pérez will be doing his first TPC with the Cadillac team at Imola, using the SF-23.
Cadillac TWG Motorsport has announced its drivers for 2026 in August, with an experienced line-up joining the field.
Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez have been signed by the American team, but as the Finn is still under a contract with Mercedes ending in the 2025 season, it is Pérez’s job to do all the TPC testing prior to the next year.
Why test a Ferrari car?

As we know, Formula 1’s very short time of testing every year, can only be done using a car that raced at least two years ago. In this case teams can test only with the cars used until the 2023 season.
Due to being Cadillac’s first ever time in Formula 1, they have opted for not building their own engine for the first three seasons, unlike Audi, and partner with Ferrari.
Therefore, the best option is to test the SF-23 car, used by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz throughout the season that has seen the Spanish driver win the Singaporean Grand Prix that year.
Motorsportcom Italy has then understood that their first ever TPC (Testing of Previous car) will be at Imola on the 13th and 14th of November, and it is said that the SF-23 will be the machinery used for those track days.
