THE PREVIEW AHEAD OF THE LEGENDARY MACAU WORLD CUP
This weekend from November 13 to 16, 2025, the legendary Guia Circuit in Macau hosts two major junior motorsport events: the FIA Formula Regional World Cup and the FIA Formula 4 World Cup.
A legendary track
The Guia Circuit, about 6.12 km long and lined with walls just a few centimetres from the asphalt, is a compendium of technique, precision and nerves of steel. Each of the 24 corners forces the drivers not to make any mistakes: in Macau, hit a wall is often ruining your race. This dramatic dimension makes the place a true talent revealer.
The higher category, the Formula Regional, returns as the “World Cup” in Macau. The list of 27 drivers is impressive. Among the favourites and striking faces:
Matteo De Palo (Italy); Jin Nakamura (Japan); Enzo Deligny (France); Théophile Naël (France); Mari Boya (Spain); Evan Giltaire (France); Freddie Slater (Great Britain); Mattia Colnaghi (Italy)
With these drivers, from various championships, the race promises to be extremely dense, technical and open, although Freddie Slater is the favourite.
Evan Giltaire, who will do his last race with the ART GP team, gave us his feelings before this important and emotional weekend:
“I can’t wait to take my revenge on last year and I’m ready to give everything for my last race with ART 💪”
Last year’s event was won by Ugo Ugochukwu in the R-ace GP team, ahead of Formula 2 driver Oliver Goethe and Noel Leon. Freddie Slater also took part in last year’s edition, but ended up crashing.
Several other Formula 2 drivers participated in the event as well, such as Mari Boya, Alex Dunne and Dino Beganovic.
Formula 4 also present at Macau

The event hosts the F4 World Cup. 20 cars will be lined up, from the best national championships.
Among the names to follow:
Fionn McLaughlin (Ireland), representative of the British F4.; Kean Nakamura-Berta (Japan), winner of the Italian F4.; Alexandre Munoz (France) champion of F4 France.; Sebastian Wheldon (USA), Italian F4 Runner-up in 2025.; Emily Cotty (Great Britain) only female representative.
For everyone, this is a rare opportunity: discover Macau, its unique conditions, and shine on the world stage from F4.
Alexandre Munoz, F4 France champion, also spoke to us before his first weekend in Macau:
“It’s going to be my first time in Macau so the goal is to have fun riding, not make a mistake and finish the season on a good note. So we’ll see how it goes but I’m super excited to start this weekend on this historic track! ”
Ethan Nobels will be absent from the F4 World Cup After his crash in Interlagos in Brazilian F4 this weekend, the 16-year-old driver will not participate in the Macau Grand Prix. He will even be away from the circuits for 2 to 3 months.
Why is this an event to follow?
The Macau Grand Prix is one of the toughest and most exciting races in the world. It brings together champions and young drivers who dream of reaching the top levels of motorsport. The track is very difficult, with narrow streets and sharp turns that test every driver’s skill and courage. Winning or even finishing well here means a lot, it proves you have real talent and determination.
This race is also famous for helping young drivers move up to bigger series like Formula 3, Formula 2, and even Formula 1. It’s not just a local event but a global battle between the best drivers from around the world. For many, Macau is the place where they can show they have the speed, focus, and heart to go further in their careers. A good result here can open doors and change a driver’s future.
Qualifying will be crucial: on a track where overtaking is very difficult, starting ahead is a major advantage to win, the barriers are close, a mistake, as in Monaco, can be expensive.
This weekend in Macau is not just one more event: it is a pivotal step for many young talents. Eyes are focussed on Macao, and a new name could be added to the long list of those who won here before winning the World Cup.
