TECH3 SET TO SIGN LUCA MARINI AND SENNA AGIUS FOR 2027 MOTOGP SEASON

Tech3 are set to sign Luca Marini and Senna Agius for the 2027 season.

Marini (28) has spent the last three seasons at the factory Honda squad, where he has helped develop a struggling Honda bike into a strong midfield challenger. Honda opted for other options, however, leaving Marini scrambling for a ride with another team.

After Trackhouse chose to extend Raul Fernandez’s deal and VR46 are poised to sign WorldSBK championship leader Nicolò Bulega, it looked like Marini could miss out on a seat. Tech 3 have clearly seen his potential and skills in developing a bike and have opted to take the Italian over current rider Maverick Viñales.

Agius (21) is halfway through his third Moto2 season, where he has picked up two wins and a further two podiums. This leaves the Australian rider third in the standings.

He appears to have beaten his Intact GP teammate and current Moto2 championship leader Manuel González to the final available seat in the premier class. The Australian passport has helped Agius and aided him in beating González to the Tech3 seat, with Dorna wanting an Australian rider on the grid following the imminent departure of Jack Miller.

However, there is no denying the potential of the Australian rider. Intact GP are set to replace Agius in Moto2 with their current Moto3 rider David Muñoz, who will move up after five years in Moto3.

With Marini and Agius taking the Tech3 seats, this sees the end of the road in MotoGP for current KTM riders Brad Binder and Maverick Viñales.

The latter has been very vocal online about how he feels undervalued and overlooked by the Austrian manufacturer, and it will be interesting to see where the two outgoing riders go in 2027.
