ADRIAN SUTIL ARRESTED IN GERMANY ON FRAUD AND ENBEZZLEMENT CHARGES
Former Formula 1 driver Adrian Sutil has been arrested in Germany on charges of aggravated fraud and embezzlement, according to reports from the German newspaper Bild.
Authorities say the 42-year-old was taken into custody by Stuttgart’s criminal police before appearing in front of a judge at the Stuttgart district court, where pre-trial detention was ordered.
A spokesperson for the Stuttgart Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that investigators carried out coordinated searches in Monaco, Switzerland and Sindelfingen (Baden-Württemberg) as part of the case. The operation involved the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office. According to prosecutors, Sutil is suspected of “aggravated fraud and embezzlement in concert with others.”

Sutil, who competed in Formula 1 for several seasons between 2007 and 2014, has previously faced legal issues. Following an incident after the 2011 Chinese Grand Prix, he received an 18-month suspended sentence and a €200,000 fine for causing serious bodily harm. The fine was directed to a charity selected by the court.
Further details on the ongoing investigation have not yet been released.
