FORMULA 2 ARRIVES AT ABU DHABI FOR LAST RACE OF THE SEASON

The 2025 Formula 2 season comes to an end this weekend on the Yas Marina circuit. Crowned champion in Qatar, Leonardo Fornaroli heads into this final round in full control, free from pressure and now focused on the next step of his career… which looks highly promising.

Fornaroli, champion and new McLaren driver

After sealing the title in dominant fashion in Qatar, the Italian driver also announced this week his arrival in the McLaren Driver Development Programme, alongside Richard Verschoor. A strong signal from the British team, clearly betting on a rising generation of talent.

In Abu Dhabi, Fornaroli could deliver one final masterclass before turning fully toward his future. Leonardo Fornaroli is set to do testing with Mclaren’s F1 machinery in the next few days.

Tsolov: momentum to maintain?

Another major point of interest this weekend will be Nikola Tsolov. The Bulgarian, in his first Formula 2 appearance, finished P7 in the Feature Race and fought for the podium in the Sprint, showing strong pace and excellent race management. The question now is whether he can back it up at Yas Marina.
And who knows, Tsolov might well be one of the early favourites for the 2026 season…

Lindblad already focused on F1

The biggest announcement of the week is the confirmation that Arvid Lindblad will move to Formula 1 in 2026. The young Briton, set to race for Racing Bulls next year, will contest his final F2 races with the aim of finishing strongly and fully justifying this rapid promotion to the top category.

Arvid is currently sixth in the standings with two wins racing for the Campos team.

There are currently fights for important spots in both drivers’ and constructors’ standings despite the title being already decided.

Verschoor, Crawford, Browning and Dunne are currently 21 points from each other, with the first two being tied for second place in the drivers’ standings.

The constructors’ title battle is still open, between Invicta and Hitech major candidates to win it, with 65 points to pick up, 35 points divide them, with the Yellow squad leading the championship.
